Welcome to São Miguel, the 'green' island
Upon arrival at Ponta Delgada International Airport, you’ll be met by a private driver and brought to your hotel in the city's center. The rest of the day is yours to explore the cobblestone streets of the Azores’ largest city. Visit the Portas da Cidade (city gate), the historic St. Sebastian Church, and Forte de São Brás, or simply relax in a café near the marina. There will also be an afternoon yoga session to awaken your senses. In the evening, join the group for a welcome dinner!

Eastern São Miguel - Furnas Lake and the geothermal hot springs
Tour the eastern side of Sao Miguel to Furnas Lake, where you will be able to watch your traditional cozido lunch being prepared using the island's geothermal energy. After lunch, you will continue to the viewpoint of Pico do Ferro, where you will see the archipelago’s oldest crater. On your return journey to Ponta Delgada, you’ll stop at a tea plantation and at the Santa Iria viewpoint to take in the breathtaking views. You will continue to Terra Nostra Park to visit the award-winning botanical gardens and will have a chance to soak in the geothermal hot springs.

Welcome to São Miguel, the 'green' island

Madeira Island was beautiful and the people were friendly. The Allegro Hotel was not what a US person would consider "4-star." Our hotel bathroom at Allegro was disgusting with black mold in the cracks, a rusty broken garbage can, and two twin beds pushed together with separate linens making it difficult to snuggle as a couple. It left us feeling unclean after showering. When we hung the sign to have the room tidy, they simply made the bed and gave us fresh towels once in the 6 days we stayed there. When we asked to book a local Island tour 2-3 days in advance we were told all was fully booked. We would not choose to stay there again. The International Hotel in Lisbon was an upgrade, although very small/cramped room with zero view, good location to all the local Lisbon sites and the staff was very helpful. We have stayed at nicer hotels in the US for much less. As it was my first trip out of the country, I was highly disappointed in the accommodations. I thought having an agency help me plan my first trip our of the US would be best, but it feels like it was overpriced and I could have done better on my own for what we were seeking, which wasn't much.

I had a great time.Ryan arranged everything. Had no issues driver met me at the airport and took me to the hotel. The excursions were top notch. Madeira is a beautiful place and island. The people were all friendly. My only small issue.is the hotel Quinta da Penha Franca has two buildings. The second building is called Penha Franca Mar which is the Ocean View/Balcony rooms are. For the pick ups for excursions and hotel pick up/drop offs, the driver should be made aware of the second hotel building. All the drop offs and pick up tend to go to the first building Quinta da Pehna Franca.

We had a wonderful time. The included tours were excellent. The hotels were very nice with friendly employees. We loved having the car service during our entire tour. Our visit to the Azores was an amazing experience to a beautiful place. We would definitely recommend taking this tour.

Perfect in every way! The hotels,driver/tour guide,stops,food,entertainment-special visits from Michael were wonderful. Highly recommend touring with Ireland with Michael!
